The first unified inventory of non-native fishes of the South Caucasian countries, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia

The South Caucasus (SC) region is recognized for its high biological diversity and various endemic animal taxa. area has experienced many fish introductions over the years, but overall information about non-native fishes in three SC countries, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia did not exist. Although these countries belong to Kura River drainage, Caspian Sea basin (only western half of drains into Black Sea), legislative framework each country regarding introduction species their treatment different poorly developed. goal present study was make an initial inventory summarize existing knowledge as a basis future risk assessment models formulation regional management policies. Here, we unified list 27 recorded wild Georgia. Among species, eight were translocated from basin. Out fishes, 15 have become established (three them being considered invasive) six could survive wild.
